I have spent the past few days scouring this site but I am just getting more confused. I'm pretty good at figuring out how to configure compnents, but so far this has been very difficult for me. I don't need any custom fields or anything: the way it is is fine. I just want to move those darn stars!

I think what I'm trying to do should be pretty simple: I basically want to move the overall rating (stars) into a particular area of the content body. for instance:
http://puremagnetik.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=130&Itemid=143

I want to move the overall rating to below the "preview" graphic. I also want to have an "add review" link right next to it. Is this possible without completely dissecting the Jreviews template?

Please I hope someone can help

I could help you move the stars, but I don't see them anywhere on that page!  Grin

I guess you haven't setup jreviews at all...

Did you watch video tutorials and read documentation?

Yeah, it's set up just fine. It's not activated for any of the categories because it's not displaying the way I want it to look.

Thanks for the offer. I did look at all the tutorials but didn't see anything beyond basic installation.

go here, you can see one item I set up as a test:

Unfortunately that is not pretty simple. On your site it is impossible to move the stars below the preview picture because that picture is part of fulltext.

You can not include any part of jreviews into joomla's fulltext. It's the other way around.

Let me explain how it is organized on my site:
On this page http://www.techreviewdb.com/cases/coolermaster-cosmos-1000-case.html
the only thing that is joomla's fulltext is the description part, everything else is included with jreviews (pictures, custom fields, specifications, links, user reviews...).

Anyway you have to use it like it is now, or reorganize your content.

Alejandro will probably give you better explanation...

I really like the layout on your site. I wish I had mine set up so elegantly like that, but if it means restructuring all of the content then I'm afraid that's out of the question.

I originally purchased Jreviews because I read how easy it was to configure. Unfortunately, it's taking up a lot of my time and I don't think I'll be able to use it as I have too many other things to do. Even the default template completely rearranges my content so I doubt it's going to work for me without a lot of time getting over this learning curve. Out of all the compnents I'm using: AEC, CB, JACL etc. this one is by far the most difficult and unintutive to use.

I guess I just have to wait for another soution  Sad

There is no need to give up on jreviews.
Basically all you want is the ability for users to review your content (products)?
In that case there is no need to restructure all your content.

I'm sure it is possible to modify the template so that everything works and looks ok.

The only thing you can't have is jreviews elements inside fulltext, everything else you can.

I'm currently working on to many jreviews projects, but if you have patience I could help you later.  Cheesy

@sexxymarvin: I understand your frustration. I don't know what makes jReviews so difficult for even highly Joomla saavy and computer saavy users in general or at the other end of the spectrum, so easy and straightforward to use. You can see that's the case for a large number of users who have taken the time to write a review at Joomla.org. It seems there's always a turning point after which everything just becomes clear.

As kheruc explained you can't embed the stars in the middle of your text. I haven't seen a picture of what you want to achieve, but the most you could do is float the stars right or left of your text by editing the /jreviews/views/themes/default/listings/detail.thtml theme file. The detail page consists of many information blocks and you need to build your page using these blocks which are all found in the detail.thtml file.
