I've finally upgraded Joomla Ratings to jReviews 2.0 and gave the site a much needed facelift. I removed thousands of old pages with the hope of making this an organically grown Joomla user site, and even if it fails, at least it's another jReviews showcase
I am using a single section and category and several listing custom fields as virtual categories. When you visit the homepage you'll see the at the top a round grey box with the search field and the virtual categories from a custom field. This is a fields module modified to show the search form as well. When users submit new listings they can add new virtual categories and keywords on the fly.
