Facebook  + jReviews Need Testers.

Hello Everyone.

I am currently in the process of creating my own community review portal. Origionally designed for Australian users however i recently decided to make it available on a global scale with some locally limited sections (such as an Australian Business Directory) coming soon.

One of the main components within my site is jReviews, which is currently used to provide the review capabilities my site is based on. One of the good features of this component is 'Favor this item' which basically allows you to log in and click on the favor this item which places an entry in the database that user x favored item x. When you then view that users personal profile you will be able to see the items that user has favored. This is great for a wishlist type feature where users can add their favorites just to show the world. Or before your birthday you could put up a few different items and show them off (like hint hint sort of thing). Whilst this is no seperate component in that it doesent let you say remove from the list if i brought it like a gift registry, its still a great feature.

Anyway i thought one brilliant way to get extra traffic to my site would be to implement this with one of the popular social networking items of which i prefered   'Facebook' because of the applications that can be made with it. I am no guru in programming so i outsourced this through the joomlancers site and found a developer who is currently working on this. What i was hoping was that i can test it all i like but that is only my system, if anyone has the time then sign up for my site and add the application to your facebook page - Its an interesting way to see how facebook can be implemented with your site. And this is just my situation, but others can be used as well... its all up to your imagination and budget.

There is a forum post system on the site, so if you notice any bugs or have any problems please post on the forum so i can let the developer know about the bugs... also you will need an account on my site. Sign up for nothing, Facebook always helps!

Currently the application shows the most popular review items, the most popular members of the site, and is in the process of showing the users added Favorites items.

Thanks for taking the time to look through, any questions please feel free to PM me.

Apologies if this has been placed in the wrong section, however i was unsure of where it should be placed.

Hello.

Thanks for the reply, sadly its not quite as simple as sharing it with everyone for quite a few reasons, one of which is that i don't know that much about it lol it was a freelanced work, that said i am happy to provide details about the freelancers etc.

The problem is that its not a clear cut component, there is no back end to the component or anything like that, and since it was done as freelance work i don't actually have an installable component or anything like that.

The second issue is in facebook itself, to use the component you would need a developers account and to play around with all of that stuff. Again not to sure what happens with that.

Sorry i can't be that much help, but if you want feel free to PM me, and i would be happy to discuss the component further, i do understand the basic operation etc but once it gets to the hardcore programming you are better to chat to the freelancers etc.

Cheers!

Very cool application.  We have actually been talking about creating something like this ourselves.  If we decide to proceed with that, I may be contacting you.

In my case it has not been of that much use yet, since i do not have a huge member base, most of the reviews i have had are from guests, but as i get more members hopefully it was of use. From memory it was not that expensive to get done either, a few hundred bucks on joomlancers.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask, i can pass on details of the people who made it if you like.
