Alejandro,

It might be too early for me here, but I'm trying to think of a solution to this problem.  The review site I'm making for a client has potential to have clients from all different areas of the world.  It is a car review site, and they were wondering if there was some way to filter the user review so that visitors of the site would find a review that helps them a little bit better.

My first inclination is to make a custom field in the review that gives information about their geography and things like City, Suburbia, etc.... basically any of the information they would like to filter - but other than the one click searching, is there a way to filter user reviews by these criteria?

So, if a visitor sees that the car review was from  New York City, they might want to filter to "Eastern United States" or something like that.

Any ideas?

Sorry if I'm being slow here - Thanks.

It's not clear to me whether you are talking about the listings or the actual user reviews. You can do advanced search and click2search for the listing fields, but not for the review fields. The searching capabilities for *user* reviews are non-existent at the moment.

Ok - I was confused then.

And yes, I was thinking of the actual user reviews and not the listing.  I thought that the custom field for the user reviews were searchable using click2search.  Sorry for the confusion.

Has there been any demand for such a feature, or am I the first one? Smiley

Thanks for the reply.

I second that!  This is one of the most important features for me to impliment on my website right now.  All my users have been asking me if they can search and browse based on the fields from the reviews.

Thanks.

Got it Wink But please don't count on having this functionality any time soon. There's a lot to be done before that.

Fourth...although I also added this in the feature request.

Are the user reviews with customized fields stored in the database in a format that can be queried using Jreviews-independent db query such as Fabrik?  If so, what is the database name for the user reviews?  I am not a developer, but may be we can form a group to share the cost of having someone develop this code until the feature is available in Jreviews.

I've never used Fabrik. The data is stored in jos_jreviews_comments, jos_jreviews_ratings, jos_jreviews_review_fields.

I got a quote to generate customized code for this feature.  If the three requesters above would like to do cost sharing, please contact me.
Thanks.
