PacaMomes.com is a directory presenting all children friendly activities and places in the french region Provence Alpes Cotes d'Azur. In other words Pacamomes is a regionnal site for parents who search activities for their kids.

Technically speaking Pacamomes is using Jreviews as directory component, Community Builder for user mangement, Tabs and slides modules for the tabs system, SWmenufree for the main menu, Diashow for slideshows, the Gmap mambot for some nice maps, a tweaked version of PNGfix mambot and the design is based on a heavily modified version of the Rocket Theme Sporticus V2.

The website is open but is still in beta testing. Surfing experience is best on firefox, while some annoying bugs remains on Safari/XP (mainmenu and diashow z-index trouble only on the first page), as usual the IE 6 layout suffers some very minor visual bugs, which is also the case of IE7 but much less. Of course all this will be corrected ASAP, by the way if you are using other browsers than these ones we'be happy to have some feedback from you.

Do not miss the advanced search module which is featured twice (one for places search, and one for events search) in the blue top block tabs.

Pacamomes.com was made for the association PacaMômes by Technivore™ Sarl. Technivore ™ is a French IT agency that devises and produces web sites tailor-made to meet its clients' needs. Technivore works mostly on open-source software such as Joomla, Postnuke, SPIP, Typo3.

Thanks goes to Alejandro for his brilliant software and his flawless support.

That is a very nice site! Smiley

As I mentioned in another post, it is important to turn off the entry counts in the modules and the category box in lists because for sites with a lot of categories and content this generates an enormous amount of queries that will affect the performance of your server. An example page is this:

http://www.pacamomes.com/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=163

You have three field modules, all showing the entry count and also the category box in the list has the entry count. If you enable debug mode in Joomla you will see the number of queries is too large. Disable the count and see the queries drop.

I'm aware of this but it was a specific demand of the client (It is a very convenient feature for administration purposes when you have so many items to manage). So I guess we'll take it off when the client is fed up by the overload ;-)

Ok, as long as you know where to look when the problem starts.
