Site Looks Great!

Growing up my grandfather always made scupanon and I think muscadine wine.  He lived in South Georgia.  One day I hope to try a batch.  Making wine always appealed more to me than home brewed beer.

Is that a joomlart template?  If so which one?

A few of your articles may not be published.  Several of the links gave me this error:

You are not authorised to view this resource.
You need to login.

This link was one of them

http://www.vintnerresources.com/index.php/Cellar-Craft/Amarone-style-with-Super-Pack.html

You may want to look at how the manufacturers links diplay in your custom fields.

Manufacturers Website: http://http://www.cellarcraftwine.com

The links seem to work fine but they are not displaying correctly.

If you want some design comments let me know and I am happy to give my input.

Looks great!

Thanks for the input.  I will look into the things mentioned and update this post.  And yes, I would welcome any design input you may have.  Functionality is easy.  Making it look good and intuitive... thats a WHOLE different story!

The template is JJ Ario Lite from http://www.joomlajunkie.com  I have had some issues with it but I think I have it working now.

A few thoughts

The home page appears busy.  I am not sure where my focus should go.

I would try to reduce or remove some of the elements.

1. Top right corner maybe remove the 3 buttons before the Text changers.  That functionality can be found else where on the page.  The first element,  "site map" is not apparent what that symbol means.  If it is that important to have the site map you may add it to the main navigation.  Try removing those elements and see what the page looks like.

2. Virtumart module.  Your average Vinter does not know what Virtue mart is nor do they care.  I would change the title of that one to Store or Shop.  Everyone knows what those words mean.  :-)

3. Center of the page, I would probably reduce it to 2 modules in the center might move the newsletter to somewhere else on the page, maybe wher the thre icons are.  The upper right corner.

4. Newsletter if you do leave it where it is I would change the word subscribe to Newsletter.  I would also reduce the instruction text in half.

Original:
Subscribe to The Grapevine, our monthly newsletter with event information, community updates and other information relating to home winemaking.

New:
The Grapevine, our monthly newsletter, provides exclusive event and product information.

(the punctuation may not be correct.  English is not my strong suite)

Let me know what you think of those suggestions.  Again those are just my thoughts and may not be what you are going for with the site.

Hope those help.

The one bit I would say is that I don't like the black background - works for power tools but not wine, IMHO.

Otherwise, great!

Hi,

Site looks great.

I'm a big fan of JoomlaJunkie's Ario Lite, although I don't think that colour combination is the best one that you can use in Ario -  Don't you find the white text of the menu is hard to read against a light green background and vice versa in the body, where light green headings appear on a white/grey background?

Also your suckerfish menu goes behind the advert in the inset module position. At least it does in IE7. Have you downloaded the latest version of Ario? I think Joomlajunkie might have had a fix for that, or maybe it was on their forum.

And in the book review the text is close up to the book cover image, in IE7. Could use some padding/margin to improve the look.

Did you get any errors trying to get Ario Lite to play nicely with JReviews. I'm using Joomla 1.5.3 and the latest build of JReviews 2.x with Ario and I get errors with Ario Lite that I can't work out. If you can shed any light that would be much appreciated. There's someone else on the Joomlajunkie forum with the same problem too.

Good luck with you site.
