In the next few hours I will publish the official release news. The trial version has also been upgrades to RC3.

Hi!

Downloaded and already started to play with it...  Grin .

I'm not sure, but did you forget to put the updated mod_jreviews_sectionnav in the zip file? The RC2 module doesn't seem to work with RC3.

I've upgraded, but admin still says:

"Local Key Expires:
Expired.
Login to the client area to get a new key and place it in /administrator/components/com_jreviews."

I logged in to client area downloaded the key and uploaded to my admin dir.
still error.

Download RC3 and read the readme.txt and the guide for upgrading the templates if you have made changes to them.

I just downloaded RC3, jreviews_RC3_unzipfirst_build20070426.zip, in preparation for uprading from RC2 to RC3.

I am trying to sift through the documentation contained in the zip file.  Can you please confirm my understanding of each of these documents.

1. jReviews_Guide_for_upgrading_RC2_templates_to_RC3_20070413.pdf
  • this document is for those who have modified files contained in /components/jreviews/tmpl/default or have created their own templates sitting in /components/jreviews/tmpl

2. jReviews_quick_install_setup_April_26_2007.pdf
  • this is for a fresh install

3. jReviewsEverywhere_Integration_Guide_April_2007.pdf
  • this for those who are taking advantage of jReviews Everywhere to integrate jReviews with other extensions

4. Upgrading.txt
  • this appears to be the primary document for those upgrading from RC2 to RC3

I did not find any readme.txt files as mentioned in a previous post until I started to look inside the individual zip files.  Only the bot and component zip files had readme files in them.

1. bot_jreviews_search_RC3_build20070413.zip
  • this readme did not contain any upgrade instructions for RC2 to RC3
  • it contained a description of the search bot and instructions to use the installer to install it, to publish it and to unpublish the core search bot

2. com_jreviews_1201RC3_build20070426.zip
  • neither of these files contained upgrade instructions for RC2 to RC3
  • one readme contains documentation for the securimage PHP clas
  • the other is the jReviews store template readme

Your  understanding of the docs is correct. You only need to worry about template changes for the upgrade if you made any changes. If the changes are minor, then my recommendation is you transfer them to the new templates which are XHTML and CSS W3C valid.

Upgrading the component requires uninstall and reinstalling. Make sure the /administrator/components and /components folders are writable. You will not lose any of the data already in the system.

Any modules/mambot you have installed require you to overwrite the files without uninstalling them. This is so you don't lose module setup. For example if you had assigned the module to many different menus, you would have to do that again if you uninstall it.

Did I miss something in the docs?  It appears that I have to uninstall the component and the jreviews comment plugin before I install RC3.  Is that right?

Login to the client area and download the latest version. Upgrades are free if you are within the 12 month free upgrade period.
