JReviews, Joomlaboard & CB Setup with ARTIO
[/size]

I’ve created quite a few sites with Joomla but have had numerous frustrations and problems with OpenSEF and other SEF programs, which are supposed to be created to allow you to easily transform all akward URLS to short Search Engine Friendly ones.

Until I found ARTIO.

ARTIO is also the only SEF component I have found to work with Joomlaboard and Community Builder.

I am not a webmaster or programmer guru so I don’t know exactly how I managed to get it to work. But, I just use the one site which I was first successful in doing this with, and duplicate the Globals, php.ini file and the .htaccess file.

After You Successfully Upload all of the JReviews Files (and/or Joomlaboard/CB), then:
1.   Go into your website’s control panel (Cpanel) or file manager and in the /public_html/ folder (or where you have JReviews installed) then you will need to replace the .htaccess file and globals file. You will also need to upload the php.ini file to the same /public_html/ area or where you have JReviews installed.
2.   Be aware that ARTIO does not work with UserListXTD if you have that installed. You can go into the ARTIO configuration to “Skip” using it for that component.
3.   If there are any URLS, which you do not like, you can manually change them to suit your needs.

You can download the .htaccess, globals and php.ini files here (I’ve zipped them for you). à DOWNLOAD ZIP FILE http://www.honestworkfromhomesuccess.com/joomla/GlobalsPHPhtaccessZIP.zip

I've used this with my first JReviews site here: www.RealCbRatings.com so you can see how it looks and see that it does work just fine. Smiley

I just have one concern and question regarding the SEF option with the URLS for jreviews. I have noticed that every time an item is EDITED - a SEF URL is created (different ones each time) and there are so many links from different items/listings to other items that each one creates another unique SEF URL. I am concerned that there are already thousands of URLS. I dont know if this will negatively affect my SEO efforts (duplicate content/pages, etc.) or if it may slow down the site. I dont know if there is a way to stop it from creating SEF Urls for certain links. ...any thoughts?

That might be a problem specific to Artio and not having an sef_ext.php file for it. Which are the duplicate urls you refer to?

Have you tried using the supplied file? it's somewhere else on this thread or you can also find it in My Account in the downloads for your license.

The file works, with few issues due to Joomla's Itemid problems, with both OpenSEF and SEF Advance. I need to fine tune a few things and that will happen with the next release. But take a look at the links on this site:

http://www.threadreviews.com/

He is using OpenSEF.

The patched files in the updates for your license fix a problem with the menu links. Without the patch you get the "You don't have access to this resource" message.

Sometimes, reviews are not shown on the content page, even if they show on the list page. If I turn of OpenSEF, they show.

I tried inactivating any advanced URLs other than the correct one, but it does not help.

You can see it at http://www.hantverksforum.com/register/listcategory/yrke/hantverkare/r%f6rmokare/ -the first item: it shows review is made on the first item in the list, but if you click Readon, it says no review is made.

On this listing however, it works: http://www.hantverksforum.com/register/listcategory/yrke/hantverkare/m%e5lare/

On the first link I clicked on the first item:

http://www.hantverksforum.com/rormokare/ingemars-ror.html

and I can see the review.
