I wounder if I can control the layout in more detail (removin unwanted texts/fieldsand moving things around a little bit more) then in xtdratings. And if I can control everything in the language. Translating the language file in xtdrating didn't translate everything :-(

The language file for the frontend has everything now, so you should be able to translate it no problem. In terms of layout, eveything you see is controlled by patTemplate. This means that there's an html file with the output of each view that you can adjust. Give me a more precise example of what you would like to do so I can be more specific.

is there a more detailed description on how the Pat-template stuff works?  I am interested in the component but the layout will need a lot of modding for my site so I wondered how easy is this to do?

I'm not that familiar with it myself, but here's a link to their website:

(take out the space in the url)
