The problem is not the download.  I've already downloaded it.  But there are no instructions included in the download nor in the regular installation instructions.

Based upon what you said I installed it as a Mambot and published it.  Then I unpublshed the bot called:

content.searchbot

Is that the right procedure?

thanks
Paul

Sorry, I have moved all downloads to the client area. If it's not in the zip file then it's available separately.

You have to replace the core content search bot with the one provided in /mambots/content.

Fix is here:

http://www.reviewsforjoomla.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,34/topic,271.0/

I don't understand why my version of the box throws this error while the core Joomla one does not, with exactly the same code  Huh

I will revisit the search bot later on when I have some time.

I had the exact same error, I applied the fix linked above, and search results show up, but all the links in the search result were without itemID, so clicking any of the search result gave "You are not allowed to view this resource". Then I tried the core search bot instead (unpublished the jreviews.searchbot) and got baffeled to see that I get the same search results (but with correct links) including jreviews content!

So, why do I need the jreviews.searchbot? Is it because it searches reviews too? (I do not use the review function on this site.)

Yes, with the search bot you get results on reviews and custom fields.

I have the jReviews Search Mambot v1.2.02 and it returns searches with Content Articles before JReview Listings.  Is there a way I can make it return JReviews content first?

Thanks

The mambot doesn't really differentiate between regular content and jReviews content and the results are ordered alphabetically if I am not mistaken. There really is no way to do this unless the queries in the bot are substantially changed.
