Title: Breadcrumb Bar variations Post by: jayw on July 09, 2008, 02:52:09 AM Hi.
I'm setting up a new site using 1.5 and I'm just working on the breadcrumbs...I'm leaning towards turning off the jreviews trail and leaving the joomla trail on as it's more intergrated in my theme and consistant across the site. However when you actually view a review, the joomla trail shows up empty apart from home and i'm not sure why...It seems fine viewing the listings...just not the actual reviews. Any ideas on why this would be and a way in which I can get the trail to show correctly. Here is a link to the listing that works ok - http://www.themeparknews.com.au/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=43 (http://www.themeparknews.com.au/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=43) but when you click on that review the standard breadcrumb is empty. And as a quick side note - how do a reposition those images seen in the image tab, couldn't see it in the CSS but might have been looking in the wrong place. One last side note - Nice work on the new version for 1.5 and fantastic work on supporting everyone in this forum! I think the solution for the details page will change the actual links in the list page to non-jReviews links, but here it goes. This is the best example of why you need to follow the steps outlined in the KB Article titled "menus and modules and Itemids" even if you are not using jReviews. Joomla needs to assign a unique Itemid to sections, categorys and articles for module assignment and breadcrumb display and you are not doing that right now. If you look at the article link you'll see it's missing the Itemid=x parameter. So the solution is to create blog type menus for all your sections or categories so those links appear with Itemids. I've also coded a *fix* for this in the next release so the links will get Itemids from the jReviews menus, but that could create duplicate urls if you use any of the core content pages (lists, frontpage, modules, etc.) because those links will not have an Itemid.
