It looks cool to me.  You probably changed it since March.  Design-savvy people are more concerned about coolness than your everyday web surfer like me.  Fancy design is lost on me.  I scarcely notice.  I need simplicity, function, ease of use.

Even a design clod like me can appreciate the fancy design.  I wonder what impact it has on traffic.

The site is a brilliant idea.  I'm surprised there isn't a lot of activity on the forum.  It seems like tools would be a hot topic.

I have done a few things to make the front page a little more interesting. I moved the blog to the front, so content would change and I added the tabbed tool reviews, and tabbed sidebar module.

I am kind of surprised by the lack of user interaction on my site, being blog comments, forum posts, or reviews. I plan on offering a tool giveaway contest to hopefully get some reviews, probably after i move to joomla 1.5

Make no mistake about it, building traffic is difficult.

And as far as design, some target markets care a lot. Others don't give a darn. Accountants are less picky about design, artists are.

Could you please tell us more about what temlplate and other components/modules you are using?

I use the "switch" theme from yootheme.com, and most of the modules are from yootheme. Let me know if there is something in particular you want to know about.

I'll have to check out yootheme.com. I've never heard of it.

I noticed at the bottom of some of the items you have a comment system.  What are you using for this?

Also, you are using the amazon associates feature nicely.  I would like to list items like you have them here: http://tool-rank.com/reviews/at/air-tools/ (http://tool-rank.com/reviews/at/air-tools/) Does JReviews assist with setting this up?  Can newest or related items or "articles" be listed this way? Like on a homepage?  I've been looking for a way to list latest articles' titles with thumbnails and intro text and maybe the rating with it also on the homepage.  The default Latest News module is kinda plain.

I am using JomComment for the comments system. http://www.azrul.com/products/joomla_comment_system.html

I have noticed that if JomComment is installed after jReviews (atleast in jreviews 1.*) the comments will be above the user reviews. If it is installed before jReviews, it will be below the reviews like I have them. I have not tested this, but it might be as simple as unpublishing and publishing the mambots/plugins in the correct order.

The list I have for amazon associates is just the standard jReviews template that comes with jReviews 1.* using blogview as the list style. I believe any jReviews section or category can be listed this way.
