Title: xtdratings/jtreviews questions
Post by: fitzrik on August 21, 2006, 06:45:57 PM
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll try anyway :)

Hi all,

the joomlaratings website is down so I thought I'd ask here.

I'm using xtdratings at vinylfanatics.com and there's a couple of things which irritate me.

1. There are loads of fields. Iwant only the fields I want but it adds in a whole pile of extra ones such as abstract, image fields, several title fields etc. Can I get rid of them??

2. To submit a review is a two page affair. The second being user ratings and comments. I would like to have the ratings on the first page. I don't want the comments section at all or the title that seems to be associated with tha comments. How?

3. The rating is made up of several criteria which tyhe reviewer can rate but yet in the published review only the combined rating is shown. How can I show allfour criterie?

Thanks in advance

Richard

I don't mean to be rude but I will delete all xtdratings related post from now on, because this is not the place to post them. I obviously have limited the time I will dedicate to xtdratings, because I was in fact dedicating lots of time to it and in return people complained about documentation and made very little contributions. The few who did, got jReviews for "free", even if they donated $10 to xtdratings.

Most of the time the posts are for custom things like what you are asking now and it is very time consuming! The answer to 1 and 2 is no, unless you hack the code and you will need to learn facileforms and search through the xtdratings and facileforms forums. The answer to 3 is that this is a selectable option in the backend.

This is the last xtdratings post on this site, sorry. And by the way, you can achieve those things a lot easier with jReviews, the dependance on FacileForms made it very difficult to develop certain features and the same goes for modifying they way things are currently setup.

Ok thanks for replying. Sorry if the question sounded harsh :)

I suppose I better look more at jreviews then. Had a look at the demo site and it certainly looked more like what I want.

Thanks again

You will be making the right choice! I have already fixed 99% of bugs reported in jReviews, released a module, a search bot and I am in the process of finalizing the advanced sef file for OpenSef. More features will come after that.
