JReviews 2.1.12 released

We are proud to announce the inmediate availability of maintenance release 2.1.12.144. We recommend reading the changelog for a complete list of changes and fixes. For upgrade instructions please refer to the upgrades documentation.

You will need a valid upgrades package to download the latest version. Did your upgrades expire? find out how to renew your upgrades.

The trial version of JReviews will be updated to this new release soon.

Roadmap for 2010

Clients have been asking what lies ahead for JReviews in 2010. We'll provide some information about current and planned developments. It's not possible to provide exact release dates so we won't attempt to do that, but rest assured we are working hard to bring you new releases soon.

  • New Paid Listings Add-on for JReviews: This add-on will enable you to easily monetize your JReviews site by charging users to submit listings, or to enhance their listings with more information or by making them featured. Like JReviews, we plan on making this add-on quite flexible.

  • JReviews 3.0: There have been many feature requests over the past years and we are going to try to incorporate as many of them in this major release. Some of the highlights for this new version include:
    • A more powerful field system. Among the many changes it will support multiple instances of the same field in a single listing and better search and sorting functionality.
    • A media field that will allow uploading of images, attachments and videos in both listings and reviews
    • Chained fields, with ajax functionality, that can also be used for categorization. For example, when setting up Country and City fields, selecting a country will enable the city field with the corresponding options for that country.
    • Global configuration overrides for each listing type. For example, listing submissions can be controlled by listing type.

    We have many more smaller and not-so-small features planned.

  • Further GeoMaps development: The GeoMaps add-on has been an incredible best seller. It packs a ton of features and can really change the user experience on your site. We plan on making this add-on even better by improving the location-based search capabilities. Since we are working on so many things at the same time, GeoMaps development will resume once enough progress has been made in other areas.

  • JReviews Express 2.1: The codebase for JReviews Express will be updated to that of JReviews 2.1, eliminating the use of xajax and replacing it with jQuery. In addition to this, JReviews Express will enjoy the same powerful moderation features of JReviews as weill as owner reply to user reviews.

We will try to make the upgrade experience as seamless as possible. As is typical with major versions theme changes will be required to introduce new functionality. Anyone with a valid upgrades package will have access to the new version once it's released.

  • 12 Months JReviews Upgrades Extension: $79.99 (includes upgrades for both the component and any add-ons purchased)

This hard decision was taken because we are committed to delivering high quality products with outstanding service. It also enables us to accelerate development of JReviews and continue improving the documentation of the project. We have been putting together a library of video tutorials that will continue to grow. Tips & tricks customization articles are also frequently added to the documentation.
