I am almost certain that this is a silly question after looking at this site, but it is worth asking before I purchase the software.  Is there any trick to integrating SMF with jReviews?  Is Community Builder required?

Thank you.

Not silly at all. There's no integration between jReviews and SMF right now. However, since jReviews uses regular Joomla content if what you want is to have users discuss items (not reviews) then I am pretty sure you could do that with the SMF discuss bot.

Community Builder integration is automatic if you have it installed.

But, if I wanted to have users review items in Joomla, and have a regular forum using SMF, there is no bridge?  That is, users would have two accounts?

Ok, the question is then related to Joomla and SMF I guess. I use a bridge which synchronizes the Joomla and SMF accounts, no need to have community builder.

The one I use is found here:

I apologize for not being clear.  I've used the SMF bridge before and it works, well, it works.  Let me just tell you what I was hoping to be able to accomplish, and you tell me if it is possible or not.

I am wanting to install Joomla and SMF, using the SMF bridge (also possibly Community Builder).  I am also wanting to install SMF Discuss Bot so members can discuss articles.  I am also wanting to install jReviews so that members can rate products and other items.  Throw in Calendar and Event Registration.  Also some ecommerce solution.  Voila!

All that in mind, is it possible?  Will there be conflicts anywhere with jReviews or anything else that you know of?

Ok. No conflicts that I can think of.

Thanks.  I see no reason why I won't purchase jReviews within the next few days.

Just to let you know.  My site which is using jReviews also has a lot of other complex components integrated and running on the site as well and I have so far found no conflicts between jReviews and any other component.

A nice addition for any site that compliments jReviews is a comment system.  I have used both JoomlaComment (free Open Source) and Jom Comment (commercial but worth the small fee) and they both work perfectly with jReviews and add a nice touch to the pages, allowing members to quickly comment on a jReviews item without having to submit a full review.  This is especially great for providing a small discussion about a specific items between members.

The SMF Discuss Bot works in a similar way to the comment systems I've been using so I expect it would work really well to offer very similar functionaily and a great additional feature to the site.  If I had been using SMF I probably would have picked that option instead of the Jom Comment solution I now use.
