Weekly Update #5: JReviews v2.4

We are really getting much closer now. The 2nd pass at the front-end code is now practically complete and we will begin with the testing phase starting next week. Unfortunately next week will be slower because I will be off for half of the week, but now that we've reached this stage all the very hard work has already been done. For those still on J1.5, we still haven't converted all the code to make it compatible with J1.5. We would like to make sure that at least the initial version of JReviews 2.4 works with J1.5 to make it easier to migrate to most recent versions of Joomla going forward.

So far we've rewritten all of the javascript code for both the front-end and admin sides for JReviews. We removed all inline javascript from the theme files and established a naming convention for element class and id attributes that are used for javascript selectors and those that are used purely for CSS. We re-wrote a large number of the theme files in order to implement the new conventions and simplify them whenever possible. This work is not entirely over and will probably be re-visited in subsequent betas.

While working on the admin side we wrapped most language strings in our translation function which takes us a step closer to having an admin language file. We will continue to work on this after the first beta is released.
