So, I've been trying different paid search modules to see how well they might work with jReviews.  I came across one called Universal Ajax Live Search (ALS) that integrates well with any Joomla component search that is implemented as a plugin.  I.e. it works well with Kunena, JomSocial, and the standard Joomla search.  With the standard Joomla search ALS actually does somewhat of a decent job of searching jReviews content (limited to title, summary, meta, etc.) and returns good results.  Unfortunately, it doesn't search custom fields or return the results in the same format as jReviews (with star ratings, etc.).

The guys who developed ALS say that their module will integrate with pretty much any search plugin that is actually implemented as a Joomla plugin.  I was thinking that jReviews simple search would be a good candidate to implements as plugin rather than as part of the component.  Have you ever had any thoughts about doing that?  It might well overcome some of the search problems that people have from time to time, and integrate with other search modules that are available.

I'm also trying to figure out if AceSearch can work with jReviews.  Do you know if anyone has managed to integrate the two?

A very long time ago we had a search plugin and it returned the results in the Joomla results format which the large majority of JReviews users didn't care for. As you said, not the JReviews layout and no star ratings. We are more likely to implement an ajax search in the future than a search plugin for this very reason.

I asked this to Acesearch team few days ago and they tell me something will available soon. However I will wait until Alejandro implement what he say that mean his own Ajax Search feature. Installing a whole component just for search is not ideal because is one more stuff to take care with his update, security and compatibility. Personally I try always to avoid to install stuff who will burdening the site for nothing.

I have a website with more than 10'000 listings and I'm under developing another who will have more than 25'000 listings. With this big amount of listing is quite difficult for users to get quickly what they want. Unfortunately The traditional search method available actually in Jreviews, Joomla and any other component is not well adapted when you have lot stuff to search...

Please keep in mind there's absolutely no timeline for this. If you need something now you may consider hiring a dev to implement it for you.
