jReviews Video Tutorials

Please keep in mind that jReviews has changed a lot since the tutorials were contributed by one of our first users! They explain the basics, but there's a lot more functionality now and some things have changed in terms of how jReviews is setup as noted below in the video description

1. Create Joomla sections/categories

In this tutorial you will learn how to create the Joomla content sections and categories required in order to setup jReviews. This is done using the Joomla core content manager and outside of jReviews.

2. Create custom fields

In this tutorial you will learn how to create custom field groups and custom field. Remember that you need to assign the field groups in the criteria manager so that when you assign the criteria to the categories, the fields will be automatically associated to those categories.

3. Define rating criteria

In this tutorial you will learn how to create the rating criteria sets which define how each item will be rated.

This video is a outdated. The interface now includes a field for adding weights to fields to calculate a weighted average and also a select list for associating field groups to the criteria. The association of field groups with categories was previously done in the category manager, so it is very important that you remember it is now done in the criteria manager, even though the tutorial does not reflect this.

4. Create directories

In this tutorial you will learn how to add a new directory to your jReviews setup. This is a required step since you need to define at least one directory for jReviews to work.

5. Manage categories

The category manager is where everything comes together. In this tutorial you learn how to tell jReviews which of your Joomla categories to include in the review system.

Remember that the video is outdated and the fields are no longer assigned to the categories as shown. Instead you need to assign the field groups in the criteria manager.

6. Create menu options

In this tutorial you learn how to create menus for jReviews. There are many different types of menus with different functionality that you can create with jReviews. You just need to follow the same approach shown in this tutorial.
