Getting started with jReviews

Basic setup

3. Setup the rating criteria - [required].

This is the most important step in the whole setup process and you need to think carefully before you make you criteria final, because once you start getting user reviews you must not change the criteria; if you do, the ratings calculations and their display to the users will be wrong.

[CRITERIA MANAGER]

Click on the criteria manager in the setup menu.

Criteria Manager

Then click on new to see the popup window for adding a new criteria set.

Name:Use a descriptive name because it will be used in the frontend for advanced searche if you have more than one criteria set.
Criteria:These are the different attributes on which items will be rated. If you just need one, then type in "overall rating" or something similar. Make sure to press enter after each one and don't leave extra lines at the end.
Criteria weights:We are not using weights in this example because we want each criteria to have the same weight, a simple average will be calculated for the ratings. If you don't initially add weights, but later decide to add them, you need to click on the blue "update average ratings" button in order to recalculate the average ratings as weighted averages.
Tooltips:This is a help popup that will appear at the time the user writes the review so they have a better understanding of the factors they must consider when assigning a rating to each criteria.
Field groups:If you are using custom fields, you need to select all the field groups you want to use for this criteria. You can always come back later to edit the criteria and select the groups.
New criteria setup

Save your new criteria and make sure that each criteria, weight and tooltip is numbered correctly and that there are no extra numbers at the end. If there are it means you left extra lines that you need to delete.
