Getting started with jReviews

Throughout the jReviews setup screens you will find a button, which actually shows useful information, please use it!

Basic setup

1. Create Joomla sections and categories - [required].

The first thing you should know is that jReviews takes advantage Joomla's content system and uses its sections, categories and content. However, you can still have a completely separate review section on your site. If you want to use existing sections/categories for a quick setup then skip over to the next step.

Head over to the CONTENT menu, select the SECTION MANAGER, and use the NEW button to create your sections. In the example we have created two sections: Hotels and Restaurants.

Now go to the CATEGORY MANAGER and create the categories for each of these sections. In the example we have created categories for restaurants organized by cuisine and categories for hotels organized by affordability.

Later on you will see how you can expand the category concept by using custom fields together with advanced search and/or the custom field module. For example, you could have a custom field for location for the restaurant reviews and use the module to show all the locations. When a person clicks on a location it shows all the restaurants for that particular location.
